An AI render is a starting point, not a finished brief. Before you send it to a Dutch kitchen specialist and expect a usable quote back, run it through these seven checks — they cover the things a picture cannot show, and they are exactly what turns "something like this" into a number you can actually compare.

An AI render has no concept of your actual room. It cannot know where your sink drain, gas or induction point, or extractor duct currently sit, and it will happily draw an island where your plumbing makes one expensive or impossible. Before you brief a specialist, take rough measurements of your kitchen wall by wall, and note where the existing plumbing and electrical points are. You do not need this to be precise — a specialist will remeasure on site — but giving an honest starting point avoids a quote built on a layout that has to change the moment someone visits.
A render shows a hob, an oven, an extractor and a fridge as shapes, not as products. Go through the image and write down, for each one, what you actually want: gas or induction hob, oven type, whether the fridge is integrated or freestanding, and whether you want a dishwasher. If you do not have a brand preference, say so — a complete appliance package from one brand is usually more cost-effective than mixing brands, and a specialist can propose one once they know what you need, not just what the picture implies.
State the worktop material explicitly rather than leaving it to interpretation: laminate, composite, ceramic or natural stone all look similar in a render but sit at very different price points, and stone in particular affects delivery time because it is cut to measure after the cabinets are installed. If you are not sure, ask for a quote showing two or three material options side by side rather than committing to one before you have seen the price difference.
Renders often show dramatic under-cabinet or plinth lighting that a Dutch kitchen specialist will price as a separate electrical item, not as part of the base kitchen. Decide what lighting you actually want — under-cabinet strips, spots above a worktop, an island pendant — and ask specifically whether wiring for it is included in the quote or counted as extra work.
Ask exactly what installation covers: fitting the cabinets and worktop and connecting appliances to existing plumbing and electrics is standard, but moving a water or gas point, or any structural change, is usually priced separately. A render cannot tell you this, so it has to be a direct question — get the answer in writing before you compare quotes on price alone.
Meerwerk is the Dutch term for anything discovered or requested once work is underway — an uneven wall, a relocated socket, a change of mind on a detail. Ask for the rate before you sign, whether hourly or fixed per task, and get it in writing. This single question protects you more than almost anything else on this list, since meerwerk is the most common reason a final bill runs higher than the original quote.
